Hreflang tag generator
Create the correct hreflang tags for multilingual sites. Enter the language and URL for each version and get the complete block with x-default. All in your browser, no sign-up.
Insert these tags into the <head> of every language version of the page. All pages in the group must link to each other (reciprocal references).
What the hreflang attribute does
The hreflang attribute tells Google which language or regional version of a page to show each user. It is essential for a site like a Torino business available in Italian and English: it prevents duplicate content between versions and ensures that English searchers see the /en/ page and Italian searchers see the main one.
How to use it
Add one row per language, select the language code (or language-country, e.g. it-IT) and paste the corresponding absolute URL. The tool generates the <link rel="alternate" hreflang="..."> tags and, if enabled, the x-default row for users who don't match any language. Copy the block and add it to the <head> of all linked pages.
Golden rules
References must be reciprocal: if the IT page points to the EN one, the EN page must also point to the IT one. Always use absolute URLs and language codes in ISO 639-1 format, optionally with the ISO 3166-1 country code (e.g. en-GB). Only one page per group should be marked as x-default.
